FAQs

Your essential guide to understanding everything Currents.

Is it free to list my inventory?

It sure is. While Insight™ is a premium, paid tool, listing your inventory comes at now cost. We take a commission on sales with your earnings clearly displayed during inventory upload.

Is Currents free to browse and explore?

Absolutely. While we offer powerful paid tools, registering and browsing our extensive inventory costs nothing. We charge a commission on sales which is already factored into the listed prices. What you see is what you pay.

Who sets the prices?

All pricing is set by suppliers. Currents is a facilitation platform meaning we do not own the inventory.

How does the checkout and payment process work?

Upon checkout, you will receive an order confirmation for your batteries. Within the next 1-3 business days, you will receive an invoice for your batteries plus logistics (freight). Invoices must be paid in full in order for the batteries to be shipped, and logistics invoices remain valid for 5 business days. If payment is not received within 5 business days, we will have to arrange updated logistics and send a new invoice.

How is the Insight™ estimated recycling value calculated?

The estimated recycling value is a projection, drawing from historical marketplace transaction data, commodities trends, and battery recycler purchase prices, but it’s not a guaranteed offer - just a well-informed estimate.

How do I get access to the platform?

You need to register for an account to make purchases. For vehicle OEM owned inventory (such as Nissan), we only allow access for customers who are repurposing batteries into non-vehicle applications. Please provide your business’ credentials on the "Sign Up" form and a Currents team member will reach out with your login instructions if approved. If you are a university, research laboratory, or any other non-business integrator, please feel free to register for access and a team member will be in touch to learn more about your project.

How do logistics work for buyers?

Once an order is received, Currents will work with our freight providers to secure the best deal on freight. Once we receive a quote from the carrier, Currents will send an invoice with your batteries plus freight charges which must be paid to release an order. When an invoice is paid, Currents will forward along the tracking information when the order is picked up.

How do logistics work for sellers?

Once a buyer places an order, a dedicated Currents sales representative will collaborate with your team to ensure your shipment meets DOT compliance standards. From start to finish, we’re by your side making the process seamless and stress-free.

Do Watchlists™ automatically buy batteries?

With Watchlists™, you have the power to customize your criteria to receiving instant notifications when a battery that meets your exact specifications becomes available. Alternatively, Watchlists™ can do the work for you by automatically placing bids on your behalf.

Are Watchlists™ a buyer or seller tool?

Both. For buyers, Watchlists™ are designed so you can let Currents source exactly the battery you're looking for. For sellers, Watchlists™ are a tool to either notify an interested buyer, or have that buyer automatically submit an offer at the point of inventory upload. Think of Watchlists™ as a way to turn your inventory over faster than ever before by targeting the most interested buyers.
